You have to do what you can afford. I do want to say that every JRP has different owners. I happen to know that the Chicago JRP does have industry professionals out from L. A. and NY who see and audition your kids from time to time. That way they are exposed to Hollywood agents and managers. Many have found agents and managers that way.

Hi, Roxianne!

The only question you pose that is not answered in this site is about your “dark skin”. All I can say is this:

1. It is sometimes more difficult to properly photograph someone with very dark skin, but certainly not impossible. (Try not to lighten your image in a photo so that it doesn’t truly represent you.)
2. Dark skin hasn’t stopped Don Cheadle, Denzel Washington, too many super models to mention here, Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, etc., etc., etc.
Why should it stop you?

Please don’t be offended, but…before you publicly comment on a site where professionals can read your words, for heaven’s sake PROOF READ what you’ve written. This is full of errors and they make you look…well, I don’t want to say. We approved it because it seemed so heartfelt. If English is a second language for you, get someone to help you; if it’s your main language, take a remedial writing/reading course. This goes for everyone, by the way. You will be judged on your brains, not just your talent.

I was interesting in signing my child for jrp….but the classes were too exp. so i went with Acting studio Chicago..they were $1500 cheaper…are you familiar with these students??

I know this page says NO JEWELRY for headshots. But does that also include gauges? Mine aren’t that big, I can shrink them back to normal but I would prefer to wear them. Would my headshots wearing gauges alter any of my chances if seen by someone important?

By the way, this site is awesome! So much help.

HI,

My name is Roxianne and I’m 18.
I currently live in Curacao (the caribean)
I have been acting since I was 15 in plays and e few local commercials. In 2010 I won the award for best actress at my acting academy. I’m seriously planning on persueing a career in acting. I’m planning on moving there when I I’m 19 about to turn 20 (When I finish school). I already saw a school (www.aada.org) that I would like to attend. Here Are my questions:

- How can I find a guide that lives there, who can help me with all the paperwork en the visa stuff?
- Is my dark skin going to affect my chances of getting booked?
-Is my expercience going to help when they need to hire me (I have been in move than 15 plays for the last 3 years)

What else is important for me to know right now?
